A Christmas Concert with a Dickensian twist.
Stars of stage and screen including Dicken’s Great Great Great Granddaughter, author and broadcaster Lucinda Hawksley, will be appearing at the Actors Church, St Pauls, in Covent Garden, WC1 on 10th December. The concert begins at 6.30pm and will include Readings, Carols and Poetry. Lucinda will talk about ‘A Dickensian Christmas’. Dickens was the founder of the Royal Theatrical Fund in 1839.
The story of The Royal Theatrical Fund began when four actors meeting for refreshment one evening decided that something had to be done about the large number of actors ending their lives in conditions of appalling hardship and penury.
The Royal Theatrical Fund is the only grant-making body which has no restrictive covenant applied to the nature and extent of the financial support it may provide to those in or retired from the entertainment profession.
