Don’t Forget – Workshop Presentation

DON’T FORGET WORKSHOP SHOWING

We’ve been developing a brand-new British musical. The purpose of the workshop was to help the creative team further develop the script and songs. We presented the work to an invited industry audience at the end of the two weeks.

Based on a powerful true story, the plot involves Sean, a young, married PhD student at the Royal Academy of Music in the 1980s. His life explodes when he meets a fiercely talented new student called Frankie. The pair share an immediate creative connection. They quickly fall into an unstoppable and exhilarating process of writing. They focus on putting on a show. Eventually Sean is forced to choose between his career with Frankie or his wife’s happiness. Cut to the present day, Frankie has ended up unfulfilled, working long hours as an ad exec in London. Sean, now in his mid-60s, has developed early-onset Alzheimer’s, and his wife has become his main carer. She is determined to find ways to jog his memory. She contacts Frankie with the hope that seeing his old collaborator again will awaken something long forgotten. Memories of the past explode back into their lives in an instant. Will the memories bring them peace? Or will they tear their lives apart?

This fantastic new musical illustrates how lives are woven together and the extraordinary power music has to evoke memory. It serves as a poignant reminder to cherish each moment and celebrate the connections that enrich our lives.

I played the character of the composer, SEAN. He is a handsome retired music teacher and composer. He is in his early 60’s and has developed early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. He is lost, confused, and unpredictable. However, he still has a sparkle behind the eyes. He has a sense of warm humour and charm.
